National Visually Impaired Tennis Advisory Committee

Vision 4 Growth were invited in 2014 by the Tennis Foundation, alongside a number of key vi tennis providers, to form The National Visually Impaired Tennis Advisory Committee.  Vision 4 Growth is now the representative for the East of England and the Midlands.  The Committee also comprises of representatives from the Tennis Foundation, British Blind Sport coaches and the International Tennis Federation.  Amanda Green (of Metro Blind Sport) is the UK representative from the International Blind Tennis Association (IBTA).

We hold meetings four times a year and Minutes are published on the Tennis Foundation website.  The rules and guidance for the game are set at a domestic level.  Other areas of concern such as sight classification are discussed with guests brought in to explain changes or offer ideas.  Alan MacGregorer from British Blind Sport was invited to explain how sight classifications are operated and how alternative mechanisms of “The Logimar System” may affect a person’s results.

In 2017, a B1 representative is to be invited to the Committee.
