East England Regional Tennis Tournament hosted by Vision 4 Growth 2017

V I Tennis Cambridge Tournament 2017

Saturday 15 July and Sunday 16 July 2017

This was our fifth V I Tennis Tournament delivered at Hills RoadSports and Tennis Center, Perbeck Road, Cambridge.

Responding from feedback received from the 2016 tournament, the Trustees and Tournament Organiser looked at various options to
deliver a more specific tournament for all players. This included considering other venues and
how other tournaments across the UK were being delivered. In September 2016 it was
concluded that Hills Road was not only the most accessible for our players, but we have
enjoyed a very supportive relationship with the staff and visitors. In order to accommodate the
need for a quieter environment for B1 play it was determined that a separate tournament date
should be set as part of the two-day tournament. Additionally all four courts needed to be
booked in order to avoid any other tennis being played simultaneously. It was agreed to use
only three courts during the B1 tournament, to have no access to the balcony and allow players
to sit court side during matches. Refreshments were provided in the lounge area. The B2-B5
players had use of all 4 courts and players were allowed to have refreshments on the balcony.
This year the Tournament organiser was Fiona Musgrove. She worked closely with the
tournament referee, Steve Pilcher ,and Kirsty Thompson from the Tennis Foundation. All
volunteers received training prior to the tournament and were provided with identifiable t-shirts.
We were delighted to receive support, once again, from LTA Umpires.

We had 48 players registered for our tournament. For the second year running this would have
made Vision 4 Growth the most well attended tournament. of 2017. 16 B1 players was a
record for our Cambridge tournament.
