The Importance of a Planting Scheme

Planting the flower beds

Support from Adrian from Broxbourne Council and our partners helped create a specially designed scheme.

Broxbourne Council (www.broxbourne.gov.uk), Seed Harvest Organisation (www.seedharvestorganisation.com) and Aid 4 Disabled (www.aid4disabled.com) were consulted on this area. A list of each bed was devised against suggestions from a heritage list  and research conducted by one of our volunteers (Click here to view our plant research). Plants were purchased from Clockhouse Nurseries (www.clockhousenursery.co.uk), Rochford Nurseries (www.rochfords.net) and Norfolk Lavender Fields (add link).

Plants and their arrangement were important to create a sense of depth and height as visitors walk around the raised beds. Bulbs and various bedding plants were planted by our team of volunteers during our Make a Difference Day, October 22 2016. The wooden railway sleepers also provide a seating place for people to reflect and observe the surrounding area.
